Rachel Szalay
Assistant Head of School
Rachel has been with TCPS for more than 12 years, first as the Kindergarten teacher for 10 years and now as Assistant Head of School. She graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her B.A. in Speech Communications. She later pursued a career in teaching at Point Loma Nazarene where she obtained her M.A. in Education and her teaching credentials. Before coming to TCPS, Rachel taught music in Point Loma for grades K-3. She worked with Peace Corps-Belize as a teacher trainer for two years while coaching girls’ soccer, and co-advising a girls club. A Pennsylvania native, her love for teaching grew while teaching pre-school for 6 years. She lives in Ocean Beach with her husband and children and enjoys spending time with family, singing, cooking, yoga, and running. Students inspire and refresh her love for teaching every single day. She is dedicated to bringing her best to the classrooms at TCPS and providing rich experiences for all of the students.
