Where Our Graduates Go

Where do our students go after graduating from the TCPS Middle School?

Our students are prepared for success in high school and beyond. Every year, our graduates move on to some of the most competitive private high schools such as The Bishop’s School, Francis Parker School, La Jolla Country Day School, Cathedral Catholic, Academy of Our Lady of Peace, St. Augustine, San Diego Jewish Academy and The Grauer School. Those students who choose to attend a public high school, often enter into the honors, AP, or IB track in public high schools. TCPS is proud that our students are highly regarded by high school admissions officers and that all of our graduates feel confident and ready to move on to high school prepared to tackle the challenges that await them!

Students from the TCPS graduating class of 2020 were accepted to the following private and public high schools for Fall 2020:

  • Francis Parker School

It is no exaggeration when I say that TCPS is BEYOND extraordinary. It feels like a second home where I wake up truly happy to attend school. It is a perfect balance between academics, growth, friendships, AND fun. Believe me when I say it is a school like no other!!  – Aviya, Class of 2020, now at The Grauer School

I attended TCPS from Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. I made many friends in my nine years there and learned much from all of my teachers. From my first year at TCPS to my last, I felt that the people there were always trying to help me. As new students joined throughout my time at TCPS, they were welcomed like I had been when I first joined. My teachers made efforts to help all students academically, but they also cared about who we were as people and how we were doing outside of school. I especially enjoyed history with our classes not just consisting of notes and highlighting but also of experiences, such as working with ropes that were used on older ships and a fully functioning stock exchange game to learn more about economics. I feel that after leaving TCPS I am well rounded and prepared for not only high school but for the coming years of my life.  – Kian, Class of 2020, now at Francis Parker School

My TCPS journey was fun and rewarding. I enjoyed learning from all of my teachers, developing strong friendships with my classmates, and going to middle school camp. TCPS is a fantastic school. Its small size and excellent teachers have allowed me to achieve a high quality education. I feel prepared and confident I will do great in high school next year.  -Jack, Class of 2019, now at SET

TCPS has guided me throughout the years and inspired me to be the best version of myself. For example, when I was in the 5th grade, I struggled with vocabulary. TCPS taught me perseverance. I studied hard and improved. I learned that through hard work, I could succeed at TCPS and then follow my dreams. I am excited to attend Francis Parker next year and I feel well prepared for the challenges I will face! –Brandon, Class of 2019, now at Francis Parker School

The Child’s Primary School has prepared me for high school and beyond by teaching me not just information from a book, but giving me tools. Tools to learn better, tools to grow myself as a person, tools to succeed in different life situations. With the knowledge and support TCPS has given me, I have no doubt that I can be successful at Bishop’s and in my future academic and life adventures. I can’t wait! -Flavia, Class of 2018, now at The Bishop’s School

Coming into 8th grade I was very nervous about having to study for the ISEE and having to start high school applications. Although, as it got closer and closer to that time, I realized I didn’t need to worry. TCPS had prepared me for high school and everything that came with it. I definitely don’t think I would be where I am today without TCPS. I can’t wait to go to Francis Parker next year. Go Lancers! -Amber, Class of 2018

TCPS focused on helping my growth, not only academically but also socially. The small class sizes allowed me to receive the one on one attention that I needed to excel in academics. All of the teachers are so focused on the students and create a positive learning environment for everyone! Thanks to TCPS I will be attending the Academy of Our Lady of Peace in the fall.  -Hannah, Class of 2018

Throughout my nine years at TCPS, I have learned a lot of valuable lessons and made a lot of lifelong friends. TCPS was truly like a second family because  everyone helped each other out whether it was classmates helping each other study for the upcoming test or all of the parents pitching in to create a Halloween Carnival every year. I am truly grateful for all the time and lessons I have learned at TCPS and I will never forget all the memories and people I’ve met. Thank you to all of the teachers for always helping me in the classroom and in life. -Ali, Class of 2017

There were two huge things that I valued from TCPS which made me enjoy my experience; they were the small class sizes and small community. The biggest thing about TCPS that I valued was the student-teacher relationship and being able to have a personal connection with the teachers. This allows the teacher to get to know us better as students and help our growth. The small community allowed us to get to know everyone and be able to interact with all the different grades. -Arjun, Class of 2017

Looking back at my experience attending The Child’s Primary School, I can confidently say that this is not just a school, but also a community, and there’s no place that can compare. I was surrounded by teachers that nurtured my talents and pushed me further to the point that I have them to thank now for helping me understand my love of writing, and future ambitions to pursue that love. As a family, TCPS welcomes every student into an environment that values teamwork, creativity, hard work, and the love of learning. It is truly a special place. -Dani, Class of 2016

My favorite thing about being a student at TCPS was that I was in an environment that encouraged curiosity. At TCPS, learning was important because it helped you gain knowledge and understanding about your favorite things, not because it led to a good grade. This mindset of learning for the sake of learning is something that I continue to carry with me, and has helped me immensely in high school. -Hannah, Class of 2015
