TCPS is thankful! Last Friday, the TCPS community, including the entire student body, staff, and many parents and alumni, gathered in our Big Hall to bid farewell to TCPS co-founder and longtime Language Arts Teacher/Head of School, Mrs. Sherry Risch, as she prepares to retire. As she entered the hall, we adorned her with a cap and gown, complete with 2018 tassel, to symbolize her graduation from TCPS. She was then presented with a hardbound book of memories and messages from staff, students, parents, and alumni. Among the emotional speeches and heartfelt messages, there was truly much to be thankful for from all in attendance.
Mrs. Risch has dedicated the last 35 years of her career to giving life to TCPS, as well as giving her students and fellow staff members a wealth of knowledge and support. To wish her good luck in the next chapter of her life, many of the staff shared stories and gave thanks for all the positive influence Mrs. Risch has had on their lives. We also heard from the TCPS Board of Directors and many of the students, who spoke of what they’ve learned from her, and shared how much they will miss her next year. It was a truly moving and lovely send-off that won’t be soon forgotten by any in attendance.
A very special thanks to all of the parents, staff, and students who helped decorate, set-up, and clean up after the event. Once again, you are shining examples of how strong our learning community is. TCPS certainly won’t be the same without Mrs. Risch, but her legacy will live on here forever, through each and every student who passes through our humble doors. And so, we refuse to say goodbye, but instead we say Bon Voyage, Mrs. Risch!
