It's Back To School Time!

Dear Colleen,

This has been such an exciting summer filled with change! The most obvious change you will notice will be the site. Later in this newsletter, I will share some more details about our site. While the external changes are very noticeable, we have also made some changes to our program based on the feedback we received from our parents and staff. I look forward to sharing some of these changes with you at our Back-to-School potluck and in future newsletters.

One of my commitments to you this year is to do a much better job of keeping you better informed on changes and news at TCPS. I hope you enjoy the electronic newsletters and feel free to provide me with your suggestions and comments.
Back to School Night & Welcome Potluck
potluck
The Parent Group is hosting our parent-only Back-to-School Night and Welcome Potluck on Wednesday, September 1st at 6:30. Parents will have the opportunity to meet our new staff and other TCPS parents. This is a great time for parents to hear from their child's classroom teacher so that you will know what is happening in their classroom.

We are asking that each family bring a dish for 8 people, including serving utensils. K-3 families are asked to bring a main course, 4-6 grade families are to bring salad dishes, and 7-8 grade families are asked to bring desserts.

We will have the classrooms open beginning at 6:00 P.M. so that you can see all of the site changes. Thanks for the great idea, Schuyler!
Site Updates and Announcements
Concrete Pour
Last week, the city approved our permit for our facade improvements. So, the EXTERIOR site remodel has started! We have already completed the painting of the exterior of the building. Over the weekend, the rear sidewalk will be resurfaced with a new paint job to match the building These changes will help with the appearance of the school and also differentiate us from the church.

We will be adding a new facade to the front of the building over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, the delay in the permitting process has prevented us from completing all of the work prior to school starting as we had originally planned. I want to ensure you that we will make every effort to minimize any disruption or inconvenience to our families and students.

As we discussed in our previous newsletter, there have been extensive changes to the interior of the TCPS site. We have gained new classrooms, moved the front office, built two new hallways, painted, carpeted, and much more! While a visit is really necessary to grasp the new layout, I would like to take this opportunity to share the location of some classrooms:

First Floor Front: Fine Arts Room, Main Office
First Floor Back: 2/3 Homeroom, Kindergarten Homeroom, First Grade Homeroom, Science Lab.
Second Floor: 4/5 Homeroom, Library, Language Arts Room, History/Spanish Room, Math Room, Principal's Office, and Executive Director's Office.
