The Child's Primary School (TCPS), a private K-8th grade school located in San Diego was founded in 1983 based on the principles of value and respect for the individual uniqueness of each child. We believe learning is promoted in an environment that supports each child within a community that includes family, school, and those who influence the life of the child. Our students develop a love for school and learning-they like coming to school! When they leave TCPS they go on to a variety of public and private schools including some of the most competitive high schools in San Diego.
One of the underlying philosophies of TCPS is to provide an affordable private school education to as wide a range of families as possible. While cultural and ethnic diversity are important, we believe that economic diversity is crucial, as well. For these reasons, we strive to keep tuition affordable so that families that otherwise might not be able to choose a private school education are able to do so. This philosophy results in a wonderful array of families in our school community.
In support of these goals, The Parent Group (TPG) organizes the one of the school's major fundraising events: an annual Jogathon and Auction where each student collects pledges for laps they run. In this way, the children are directly involved in raising funds for their school which, in turn, not only helps them but helps our school reach out to students who otherwise could not afford private school.
Parents have the opportunity to participate through the silent and live auctions. Each year we are fortunate to receive many items form our corporate supporters and our own families which we are able to offer during our auctions. Along with these items, each year, our own students working in their grades create class art projects known as Kid's Art. Each of these pieces is unique and memorable and always promotes lively bidding during the auction.
The Jogathon is not only a great fundraiser; it is a community event our entire community looks forward to each year.
